Mr. Obama… There is No Common Ground
I usually attempt to refrain from talking about politics on this site. There are plenty of subjects and issues to cover in the realm of the Apostolic movement. However, when the President of our nation begins to make statements like he made this week at Notre Dame, it summons us to respond. Mr. Obama was the speaker for the commencement ceremonies this week at Notre Dame, a Roman Catholic University. Several news media outlets have reported that he is calling for “common ground” on the issue of abortion. I am still looking for transcripts of his speech. In the snippets I have found so far, he did not use those words. However, many main stream media outlets are headlining their articles with the words “common ground”, referring to his appeal on the issue of abortion. The following are some of his words in this speech.
Obama acknowledged that “no matter how much we want to fudge it … the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable.” But he still implored the University of Notre Dame’s graduating class and all in the U.S. to stop “reducing those with differing views to caricature. Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words. It’s a way of life that always has been the Notre Dame tradition.”
Open hearts? Open minds? On the issue of abortion? No Mr. Obama, I think not. Neither do millions of Americans. I will admit that there are some issues in which healthy debate and dialogue can occur. But as a conservative Christian, more specifically an Apostolic, I cannot concede that there is any common ground, any open-mindedness, on this issue. Abortion is murder. It is wrong. God will hold our nation, and the leadership that approved it, in contempt of his High and Holy court. In my opinion, and I emphasize my opinion, the most horrible spirit loose in America today is the spirit that is controlling countless adults to prey on and abuse children. From child pornography to pedophiles to the physical and mental abuse of children, it enrages me against that spirit, and believe me, it is a demonic spirit. I have twice led tours through an Advocacy Center for abused children. I applaud these over qualified and underpaid people who counsel these children and provide them with legal representation. I have stood in the room where staff members interview abused children, (not during an interview). In the adjoining room attorneys and counselors and law enforcement watch the interview on a monitor. This Center, which represents only a small area, will average several interviews a week. A staff member told me that only a small number of cases, (I believe she said 2%) ever make it to court, and of course not all of those end up with convictions. I’m sure only a small fraction of abuse cases ever even get reported, so given the statistics from the Center, the number of children abused on a daily basis is staggering, and that is only representing one county. I sat in on a speech given by a Child Advocate a couple of years ago. She told how that the rampant use of methamphetamine drugs was causing parents to sell their children sexually so that they could pay for their drugs. This is not in some far away country, this is not in some big city. This is happening in rural Southern Illinois. I don’t mean to paint such a dim picture, but this is the reality. Hell wants to destroy our children. Abortion is just another avenue to accomplish this. So when I hear the man who holds the highest political office in the land attempt to reconcile this polarizing issue, I come to understand what his values and morals really are. Our nation voted for change, but she forgot to ask what was going to be changed. Mr. Obama, you can keep your change, and we will keep believing in what is Scripturally right and what is morally correct. Mr. Obama, you can keep searching for your common ground while we stand on our common sense.
I admit I have never been involved in a lot of Children’s Ministry. I never connected well with children in a ministry setting. But I have been, and will continue to promote Children’s Ministry to the best of my ability. It must go beyond a once a week Sunday School setting. God, save our children. Protect their innocence, guard their hearts and their minds. It’s a good thing to pray, but it’s up to us to save them, to protect their innocence, and to guard their hearts and minds. While I can take no credit for it, I am very proud of the Ministry our Church has for our children, including many whose parents never have attended our Church. There is no other facet of ministry that can be elevated above children.
Below I have included a video of Mr. Obama’s viewpoints on abortion… His words speak volumes about the man…

Very well put Brother Emery! Your thoughts are true…
According to the scriptures, there are several things that will surely bring the curse of the Lord. One of those things is doing injustice to the weak and helpless:
(Deuteronomy 27:25) Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
(Proverbs 3:33) The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
May God bless America with a spirit of repentance…
